You're Sitting On Data That Tells You Exactly What To Do Next (How To Find It)

What this video covers

How Cal used Claude Code to turn a problem no app solves, too many YouTube comments to read by hand, into a working audience opportunity report built from 899 real comments across 53 videos. The video shows the plan-first prompt, what the first version got wrong, and how to fix a tool by describing the problem in plain English, with no coding knowledge.

The takeaway

You do not need to know how to fix the tool. You need to know when it is wrong. Pick the one part of your work that makes you think there has to be an easier way, open Claude Code with Plan Mode on, and describe the problem in plain language.

HOOK

You've got a problem that no app quite solves, so you keep doing it by hand. I had one, too. But this time, I asked Claude to build the solution, and it worked.

In this video, I'll show you what it built, what it got wrong, and how I fixed it without knowing anything about code. By the end, you'll know how to turn your own problem into a tool Claude builds for you.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

Here's why this matters. You have the ability to make great things. You just may not fully know it yet.

Let me tell you about someone who's been an inspiration to me. Rick Rubin. He's one of the biggest music producers of all time, but he doesn't really play instruments. And by his own account, he barely knows how the studio gear works. What he does know is what he wants.

That's what building with AI is like. You don't have to play the instruments. You don't need to be the musician. You can be the producer.

After 20 years of teaching complex ideas and hundreds of hours testing AI tools, I've realized that the hardest part isn't technology. It's taking the first step.

THE PROBLEM

My YouTube videos get a lot of comments, questions, frustrations, and even a few jabs about me personally. I get it. More on that later. But sometimes there's a nugget of gold, a hint at what my audience really wants and what I could create for them next. I don't want to miss those. The problem is finding them buried in a pile of comments.

So, I wanted to see if Claude Code could build a solution for me. And here's the first step that I took.

STEP 1: EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM

If you have Claude, it's running on your computer now, and it can read your files and build things for you if you want it to. It looks like a programmer's tool, but it's also for you. Actually, you can talk to it in plain English.

I told Claude the problem I had and the result I wanted. Then, I added one important line. Don't build anything yet. First, show me the plan. Claude asked me a few simple questions. I answered and it gave me that plan. I reviewed it and gave it the green light. That's all it took to get started. And I bet it won't take you much time either.

STEP 2: CLAUDE BUILDS THE TOOL

Once the plan was done, Claude got to work. It wrote all the code and pulled in all my comments. Then it grouped together comments about the same problem, even when people use completely different words. That's how I found these golden nuggets. In the end, it processed 899 real comments from 53 videos. I had my first working version of my own audience opportunity report in under an hour. Let's see what it found.

THE RESULTS

Apparently, the strongest signal is that I talk too slowly. Forty-two people across 11 videos wanted me to speed things up. Some of you are probably watching this at two times the speed right now, and that's fine. Whatever speed works, as long as it works.

But another 13 people said the opposite. One person said that they were glad I don't talk at the machine gun pace so many other AI channels do. And that's on purpose. The world is in a rush, but I don't think we should rush when we're learning.

The program found other useful things as well, but I'll come back to those in future videos. One thing did stand out. Four viewers asked about one-on-one consulting. That wasn't even on my radar, but it may be worth considering, and that's the real value here.

Think about the data you already have waiting to be analyzed. Customer feedback, emails, reviews, it's just sitting there. Imagine what's buried in it that you haven't even thought of yet. Something that could change how you serve others.

WHAT CLAUDE GOT WRONG

But first versions are rarely perfect. My tool ranked the 42 comments about my pace as the top finding and pushed those four requests for one-on-one help way down the list. That was a problem. Essentially, the drums were overpowering the music. It was treating the loudest signal as the most important opportunity, but it turns out those are not the same thing.

So, I told Claude what was wrong and why, and it rebuilt those parts. And here's the thing I want you to notice. I never opened a single file. That's the whole skill. You don't need to know how to fix it. You do need to know when it's wrong. Describe it. Build it, test it, and fix it.

DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK?

Now, before I show you the finished report, if you found this video helpful so far, please give it a like or a comment. It really does help this channel. Also, if you'd like to see more content just like this, click subscribe.

So, here's the finished report. Every finding traces back to a real comment, and I checked that myself. It caught things I would have missed and it showed them to me in my viewers' own words, not an AI's version of what they said. Is it perfect? No. Would I let it make my business decisions for me? Of course not. But would I use it to find buried treasure in the data I'd otherwise miss? Absolutely.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

Now, forget about my YouTube channel for a minute. My problem was too many comments to scroll through. Yours may be very different. Maybe you're a consultant with a stack of sales call notes and you want to know why people aren't buying. Maybe you're a teacher with years of student work and you want to see which mistakes keep coming up. Or maybe you build the same report every Friday and you're tired of doing it by hand.

The point isn't to build my tool. It's to build yours. Ask yourself this. What part of my work makes me think there has to be an easier way? Pick that problem. Open Claude Code and turn on plan mode. Then explain your problem in plain language and ask Claude to plan the solution and take it from there.

NEXT STEP

But if you're still unclear about the difference between Claude chat, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code, then it's best to get a handle on those first. I break down all three in another video so you'll know exactly which one to use and when.
